5ive List: Tools for Christmas Shopping

Christmas is going to be here in no time! I honestly have not been as prepared this year compared to years before, but this year has been busy for me!

Here are 5 amazing tools I use for Christmas shopping. The best part about these though, is that they can be used year round, especial the first one. šŸ™‚

Amazon.com
I love Amazon and being a Prime member (5+ years and counting)! Prime members get free 2-day shipping with no minimum purchase price. They have a variety of products and competitive pricing. For example, Fry’s Electronics will price match anything they have that is sold by Amazon (not third party sellers). Furthermore, you can track prices on Amazon by placing items in your cart. It’ll update you on any prices changes each time you check your shopping cart. (You can also use the Camelizer plug-in mentioned below.) I have always had great customer service with Amazon too.

Google Docs
I use a spreadsheet to track who I am giving presents to. Mine is sorted by family, but you can just list by category too (i.e. coworkers, neighbors, siblings, friends, etc.). My columns are:

  • Name
  • Age
  • Info about the person (shirt size, shoe size, favorite color, etc.)
  • Gift
  • From where
  • How much
  • Gift-wrapped? (check box)

This can easily be done on Excel, but I use Google Docs b/c I can access it from any computer and on mobile devices, like my iPhone and iPad.

Camelizer plug-in
I use this to track prices on Amazon year long. The price of books rarely change, but for techie electronic stuff, I have found it to be very useful. I have direct messages sent to my Twitter inbox (which then go to my phone as a text message), but email is also available. It’s available as a plug-in on Firefox and Chrome.

RetailMeNot.com
This is the ultimate coupon code website! Some retailers have chosen to restrict coupon codes from being added to the site by consumers (shame on you Container Store!), but great sites like Kohls, Wet Seal, and Victoria’s Secret are on the site. Some coupons are also printable and I like that you can rate coupon codes (i.e. if it’s working or not). You are missing out if you don’t check this site before making a purchase.

Your Mobile Device
Your mobile device can serve you in plenty of ways — especially when you are out and about! You can do all the following on the go:

  • Compare prices
  • Look up product reviews
  • Look up sales circulars
  • Capitalize on deals quickly
  • Look up digital coupons (I especially use this for Target and Kohls)

Good luck on your Christmas shopping everyone!
